SEMINAR ON BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN NORTH & EAST TODAY

Opening of North & East has emerged a new era in the Sri Lankan economy and has generated new hopes in the Sri Lankan Business Community. As such the Chairman of International Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Tissa Jayaweera’s vision was in gathering the Business men and women, investers, academics along with political leaders and other parties concerned to focus on the readily available opportunities in North & East in the process of rejuvenating the country’s economy.

Human capital, Natural Resource Capital, newly organized infrastructure in North & East has to be communicated to the Sri Lankans to achieve this end. As such International Chamber of Commerce has organized a series of seminars on “Business Opportunities in North & East “ and the well attended second seminar was held on 30th October 2009 at BMICH from 5.00Pm to 7.00 Pm.

The distinguished guest speakers were, ICC Sri Lanka. – Chairman - Tissa Jayaweera.  , Minister- Constitutional Affairs and National Integration. – Vinayagamurthi Muralitharan, Former Director Economic Affairs - Government Peace Secretariat -Rohantha Athukorala , Northern Province Governor– Major General G.A.Chandrasiri ,Assistant Governor Central Bank – Dr.P.N.Weerasinghe.

They shared the first hand information on Area situation, Constitutional arrangements, Current Developments and Business Opportunities in North & East today with the participants. The countries economic situation has been stressed upon, creating a conducive environment for business community with the idea of obtaining their contribution for the development of North & East.

The distinguished participants were eager to question on matters pertaining to their business plans in North & East and revealed that this event has been a forum for them to identify the real business opportunities available in North & East today.
